My humble apologies

Dear friends, followers and fans of Designerland,

As of late you may have noticed that Designerland has become well rather stagnate. I apologize for not keeping up but with my full time day job, my freelance work and renovating a home...there just isn't enough time in the day.

Since September my freelance work grew and the projects I got to be a part of were simply a dream for a Disney dork like myself. This year will be an amazing year for park merchandise, just wait and see!!!

Things are about to change here at Designerland and for the good thanks to you guys out there who have supported me and Designerland for the past few years. I have officially been hired by Disney! Some of you that follow me on twitter may already know and again I apologize for taking so long to post it here. I've been in the process of relocating down to Orlando and come this Monday I will be 100% official.

None of this would of happened without your support and again I thank all of you for helping my dream come true.

What does that mean for future of Designerland? Sadly, it means that the blog will be no more. I may continue to post type case studies. Typography is one of my favorite things within the parks but this is a new chapter in my life and one that I've been working 12 long and hard years for. I hope to create things that you want and will allow you to take home a bit of the magic you experienced on your vacations, trips and outings.

I thank you all again for the kind words, the support, the encouragement and the love you've shown over the past few years. Please keep in touch and be sure to follow me on twitter as I will always be around.

Your greatest fan,
Richard

  6. So what happened to the house? I've been following the Restoration Retro. Did you get to enjoy living in it before moving?

    1. We never finished it. It is currently being finished and will be on the market come this fall. It was bitter sweet since we never got to live in it. Oh well...we can always rebuild down here in Orlando.

  8. Is it that you can't post anymore due to legal reasons that come with the job or just an issue of time? Either way, congrats! This is what you've been working for and you've certainly proven with your talents that you're qualified for the position! Hope that I'll still be able to spot your work around and hope that we can still keep in touch!

  9. Richard, Congrats on your success and landing that dream job! I will miss your updates and posts here. But, it's some respite knowing your tremndous talent is now being utilized directly by the Mouse and will live on through their "official" projects. I look forward to following you via twitter and seeing more of your work show up in the Parks.

Best of luck and have a great time!

  12. Following your blog has been a joy, and seeing you achieve your dream of working officially for Disney is wonderful. I am sure I speak for many when I say I heartily look forward to 6 months/a year from now when your creative works will be available for sale (if Disney is using your talents for merchandising). Perhaps NOW we will finally see the one piece of Disney clothing I really want...your yellow Seabase Alpha tee!

Good luck with the new job!
